Histology is a branch of morphological sciences that studies plant and animal tissues. In Pathology, only animal tissues are studied, human tissues more specifically. In its broadest sense, histology is used as a synonym for microscopic anatomy, for encompassing not only the microscopic structure of the tissues, but also of the cells, organs and organ systems.
Histology has a direct relationship with other disciplines interacting with the disciplines of Cytology, Biochemistry, Physiology, amongst others.
